Aesthetic Medicine at Creu Blava
Over the years, the skin on our face and body changes. The face is the first area of our body to show the signs of time, stress and environmental damage. Aesthetic medicine covers all the medical techniques that help to maintain, restore and promote appearance, health and well-being.
At Grup Creu Blava we use injectable substances, medicines, chemical products, laser technology and other specialised energy sources to improve the appearance of the skin and the features of the face, neck and even décolletage.
Our doctors are committed to tailoring each treatment as much as possible, in order to achieve results that match each patient's real needs and preferences.
Our aims are to correct certain aspects of the facial features to enhance the beauty of the face or to give it a youthful freshness. These procedures are generally minimally invasive -they do not require major surgery-, and are performed under topical or local anaesthetic on an outpatient basis.
The aesthetic medicine treatments we carry out at Grup Creu Blava help to:
- Prevent ageing
- Treat ageing
- Harmonise our appearance
- Enhance features
- Improve the appearance of the skin

What aesthetic treatments do we offer?
What does facial filling with hyaluronic acid involve? Hyaluronic acid is a molecule found naturally in our body that can counteract the effects of ageing by replacing lost volume and combating wrinkles. Over time, hyaluronic acid levels decrease with age and it gradually disappears from our skin, which loses firmness and hydration; as the years go by, it becomes thinner, the first fine wrinkles and the first blemishes appear, giving our face a dehydrated, sagging look lacking in elasticity.
The most popular treatment is botulinum toxin injection, the active ingredient of the drug known as Botox; it involves injecting hyaluronic acid into the face to fill nasolabial folds -the line from the nose to the mouth-, dark circles and wrinkles on the neck or between the eyebrows. It is also used to hydrate the skin and add volume, as well as in the lips and cheekbones to increase their size and even out their appearance.

Benefits of hyaluronic acid treatment
- It is the safest filler, the one with the most experience behind it and the subject of the largest number of studies
- It does not cause allergies
- It is biodegradable and reabsorbed by the body itself
- The effects are visible immediately
- It hydrates the skin
- It fills and adds volume, correcting defects such as wrinkles and folds
- It fills thinning lips and enhances the cheeks and cheekbones
- It rejuvenates the eyebrows, jaw and chin
- It is an outpatient, non-surgical treatment that allows the patient to carry on with their normal routine
- It can be carried out at any time of year
04
Are there any contraindications or side effects?
As a general rule, hyaluronic acid injection has no major contraindications, except for people with certain immune system diseases, such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. In any case, an individual assessment by a specialist is always necessary before undergoing the treatment.
As for possible side effects, in some cases minor bruising or slight swelling may occur.
05
Which parts of the face are treated with hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid can be applied to practically any area of the skin that needs improved hydration, treatment of the signs of ageing or more volume.
It is most commonly used on facial areas such as the lips, for contouring, hydration and added volume; the nose (rhinomodelling), to reshape imperfections; and the cheekbones, to enhance their volume and reshape them. Injections are also given to restore the facial oval, to fill nasolabial folds and wrinkles, and as a periocular treatment for dark circles to restore volume in the area.
It is also used to treat the well-known barcode lines (the small vertical expression lines above the lips and under the nose) and marionette lines (which appear at the end of the nasolabial fold, level with the corner of the mouth); the areas can therefore be:
This treatment offers natural, long-lasting results, helping to restore youthfulness and facial beauty.
Radiesse is a facial filler made of calcium hydroxylapatite that corrects the signs of facial ageing without surgery.
Radiesse is a treatment that works by stimulating collagen production, restoring lost volume and treating sagging caused by the passage of time, age or weight fluctuations. It also helps to define the facial contour and correct minor imperfections.
Areas of the face such as the cheeks, cheekbones, chin and jawline can be treated, restoring volume and achieving a lifting effect. Wrinkles and folds (such as the nasolabial fold) are softened. The smoothing effect on the skin is immediate.
Radiesse is also very effective on certain areas of the body such as the hands, arms, knees or buttocks.
Radiesse helps depending on the technique used and the final result or effect we want to achieve: either adding volume or treating overall sagging of the face.
It is a treatment that takes just a few minutes, and the results appear gradually over three months.
