Overview
What is optometry?
Optometry assesses how well you see in order to detect and correct problems such as short-sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism or age-related long-sightedness. At Creu Blava the optician-optometrist works in coordination with ophthalmology, for children, adults and older people.

What does an optometrist do?
They hold a degree in Optics and Optometry (they are not a doctor) and provide primary eye care:
- Eye tests and detection of sight loss
- Prescription and correction with glasses or contact lenses
- Vision therapy and retraining
- Tests using imaging equipment
- A first check before seeing an ophthalmologist

In children
Detecting a vision problem early is key to doing well at school. We recommend regular check-ups from an early age.
